This is a really good time to get healthy.

By that, I mean, now.  NOW is a really good time to decide that you want good health.

You might be here because you’ve had a health scare and your doctor said you need to make a change.  You might just not feel good in general, and you’re sick of not feeling good.

I’m a huge believer in feeling good and strong and beautiful.  Because it’s in your power to have that.

So here are a few ways I can help you tap into this power.

 

ONE-ON-ONE COACHING

If you’re ready to make a positive change in your health and life, but you have no idea where to start, this is the best option.

We focus on YOU:  Your current health.  Your health goals.  Your lifestyle goals.

I create a personal plan for you and coach you through every step, which often includes:

 kitchen time →  what foods you want in your home and what to keep out
grocery time →  how to shop and diversify your foods
planning time →  setting goals and scheduling around your real life
exploring time →  improving the other parts of your life that will bring you wellness

I use all these opportunities to teach you how your body works and what it thrives on.
Most of my clients say they only want to know WHAT to do, but in the end, they feel more empowered knowing WHY they’re doing it.

As your personal coach, I’m here to teach you and support you every step of the way.
Together we’ll tap into your personal reasons for making change so that you create a healthy lifestyle that will last.

But I’m only here for you if you really WANT to get healthy.  That’s my only ask of you.

GROUP COACHING

Sometimes it’s more fun to include your friends in your health journey.

If you have a friend or two (or more!) who share your passion and commitment to getting healthy, this is a wonderful option to explore.

Often we can do a lot of the core lessons as a group, with the added benefit of having:
(1) more questions that come up from different health experiences
(2) more accountability partners

BOOT CAMP

Sometimes – sometimes – you want a complete revolution.  You want it all, and you want it now.

If that’s you, this option is it.

This is where we take the nutrition part and kick it up a few notches by adding fitness training.
The idea is to set goals for more immediate impact and create habits that will get you results fast, but with the goal to get you addicted to the healthy high you’ll feel after a week or two of turning your life around.

It’s high intensity and high expectation, but fun all around.
This is great for a time when you have a week free to focus just on YOU and your health.

If you’re here, maybe it’s because you share this belief with me:  Your body is a sanctuary.

True and complete wellness comes when you accept that you’ve been given a gift – your body and your life – and if you cherish it, it will take care of you and take you to amazing places.

This journey isn’t just about what you eat.  It’s about bringing this awareness to everything you do.

The simplest way to start your path to wellness is to get really clear on all the things you love in your life and are grateful for.

I know.  So many people tout gratitude as a treasure.  (That’s because it is.)  But how often do we truly practice it?

I created this space to inspire you to look up and see what’s so awesome in your life. You might be surprised.  There’s so much to be grateful for, if you’re looking for it.

I’ve had moments on quiet evening walks when I pass someone’s home, and their window or front door says, come in and rest your soul.  There’s life emanating from that home.
I am so in love with the idea of home.  Having one is the purest form of joy.

I’ve made myself a home in so many cities, each with a recurring theme:  very small and super cozy.
I love kitchens SO much.  Probably because I love food and cooking and having friends over.
Give your kitchen a little love and you’ll receive infinite goodness in return.

Spaces around you can make you happy (or not).  I used to move a lot, and my friends would wonder why I put any effort to make my home comfy.  ????  Because it’s home.  I’m living in it.  It better be comfy.  Where else on Earth can you be comfy?  I can’t tell you how many nights I’d come home after a tough day at work, and walked into this warm happy space and everything felt right again.

Do you have that space in your home that’s only for you… your home sanctuary?
The place you unwind, or lay your head to rest, or let yourself dream.

It’s so simple – what makes comfort.
I like to start with the end feeling in mind:  How amazing would I feel if my day went like this…

After a long day’s work – using your brain, moving your body, getting things done – there’s that moment when you surrender to your bed, slip under the covers, and feel like, ‘I’ve had my day.’
That’s the end feeling.

You know what started it?  The moment I made my bed in the morning.
I like to make my bed with the intention that today is going to be awesome.

Take time to create a hearty space around you.  Wherever you are, make it a place you call home. Make it a space you can create your life in.  A space that you enjoy sharing with the people you love.  Invite anything and anyone that gives you peace and comfort and joy.

Sometimes you just need that place to escape – like a cozy tub for a hot bath.  Always – always – you need a way to take care of yourself.  It’s not selfish to put yourself first.  When you are strong and healthy, you are empowered to care for others fully and share your very special gifts with the world.

Do you ever wish you could have your youthful energy and glow again?

This is what I know:
The path to health is through learning, healing, and preventing.

Being healthy is not hard.  (It’s actually quite simple and almost addictive!)

What’s hard is being willing to learn – being open to dumping your misperceptions and gaining solid knowledge.  There are too many options and opinions in nutrition, and that’s probably why you always feel stuck.

I keep things really, really simple.  I teach you how your body works.
Then I teach you how to use foods to build and heal your body.

And in the process, I help you make healthy choices and create healthy habits.
Not just for your body, but for your mind and soul.   Not just for now, but for your lifetime.

Here’s how I became such a believer in the power of health and prevention…

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I grew up thinking I wanted to be a pediatrician.  And then I went to medical school, and my whole “life plan” came crashing down.

From day one, it was clear I was on the wrong path.  But it took me four years of medical school, three years of residency, endless years of being lost, and an immeasurable amount of courage to leave medicine for good.  For my good.

But I’m a true nerd.  I love the science of how the body works.  Tucked deep down was a love of nutrition – how food heals and cures.  We didn’t learn that stuff in med school.  So I became a student again, but this time studied nutrition.

Everything started to make so much sense.  My brain was wired for prevention.  The father of medicine himself – Hippocrates – taught that food is our medicine.  And I’m his true follower.

I’m a believer in potential and growth.  Take what you’re given and love it and nourish it.

I’m so excited to go on this journey with you… if you’re ready for it!

A FEW FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do all kids love sugar?  

Yes.  Something’s not quite right if they don’t.

What’s the best age to learn nutrition?

Now.  The age you’re at now.  But if you’re asking about your kids – sometime around 10 years old is good to start learning about how their body works.  Before that, it’s wonderful to teach them about healthy foods, but the health connection gets stronger when they relate it to themselves.

Are you a vegetarian or vegan?

I love farm animals.  So I prefer not to eat them.
But I love plants.  So I eat a lot of plant foods.
I don’t like to put a label on myself.  I love food.  I love eating.  I love cooking and baking.
I feel nearly identical to my closest relatives – the great apes – who live strongly on plant foods.
So I like to say I’m plant empowered.
(I’m not sure if I answered that question.)

What do I think prevents the majority of people from getting healthy?

They don’t value their body.  If you believe your body is a precious gift, you’d do anything to protect it.

If I’ve tried every diet and I still don’t feel my best, what am I doing wrong?

You’re dieting.  That’s what’s wrong.  DON’T.  DIET.  Diets usually = deprivation.  Your body should not be deprived.  It needs to be given real, whole, fresh, natural foods that come from the Earth.  Eat like you mean it.
